The always enjoyable (and often educational, at least for me) Eric Sammons has a piece up regarding the cult of personality that often builds around Protestant Megachurch pastors, and how hi-def viewscreens and even holograms (holograms? What is this, Star Wars? “Help me, Obi-Wan Iesus, you’re my only hope!“) contribute to that.
My feelings are reflected (at least in part) by one of the commenters: “Parish shopping” seems to be encouraged these days, in order that people find a pastor who most closely matches their own personality, and whose beliefs comport with their own, even if those beliefs are utterly heretical.
So it would seem that victims of the “cult of personality” aren’t confined to the Revolutionaries. The only shopping any Catholic should do is to find a church that sticks to Tradition, and worship and tithe there.
